June 18,2018 ICD-11 Release

At noon (Geneva time; 19:00 Japan time) on June 18 (Mon.), ICD-11 was released at WHO Headquarters. Members of the WHO-FIC Collaborating Centre in Japan participated in the official event for the release.
It has been nearly 30 years since the last revision of ICD in 1990 that created the current ICD-10. With the release of ICD-11, WHO Member States are expected to begin making preparations for implementation of ICD-11, including translation. ICD-11 will be presented at the World Health Assembly in May 2019 for endorsement. Consideration will begin to be made on the implementation of ICD-11 in Japan.

April 23, 2017 Participation in Collaboration Meeting for WHO Collaborating Centres in Japan

On April 23, 2017, 33 WHO Collaborating Centres in Japan assembled together for the first time at the National Center for Global Health and Medicine, promoting friendship and rapport and holding a lively group discussion on the topic of encouraging partnership and mutual cooperation among the Centres.
Dr. Shin Young-soo, Regional Director for WHO Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO), and Dr. Takeshi Kasai, Director of Programme Management for WPRO, who had been visiting Japan, also attended the meeting and gave a speech on the importance of partnership among the Collaborating Centres in Japan and also of close future collaboration between the Centres and WPRO.

October 11 - 17, 2014 WHO-FIC Network Annual Meeting in Barcelona

The Annual Meeting of the WHO Family of International Classification (WHO-FIC) Network is held every year in fall. The 2014 Annual Meeting will take place in Barcelona, Spain, for seven days from October 11 through October 17, and will be hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS), the WHO-FIC Collaborating Centre in Barcelona, the Catalan Ministry of Health, the Office of Health of the Barcelona City Council, the TicSalut Foundation and others. The meeting provides the opportunity for all those responsible for WHO-FIC-related activities in their own countries to meet face-to-face. Representatives of the Collaborating Centre in Japan will be attending the meeting.
